Tv3 looking GOOD!!



3 News ended 2010 the overall ratings winner in the all important 18-49 demographic, with an average share of 30% compared to TV One’s 29%.
2010 saw a year of highlights for TV3, as it turned 21, and also ended the year not only as the news winner, but as the channel that more New Zealanders view.

Audiences for television reached unprecedented levels in 2010 with total peak viewing for All People 5+ up by 2.9% compared to the previous year and 2.2% across the entire day. And Nielsen TAM figures from 2010 reveal that TV3 reached more people than any other channel (average 4-week cum audience).
John Campbell was rewarded for his excellence at the Qantas Film and Television awards, winning the award for best News or Current Affairs presenter.

Other highlights for the channel throughout the year included the final of Outrageous Fortune. After six seasons on air the show ended not only with the highest rating episode ever, but it out-performed all other programmes on television in 2010 (18-49). Over 700,000 people tuned in for the final and it achieved a massive 51.5% share in the key 18-49 demographic.

TV3 became the new home of the International Comedy Festival ad Gala taking top spots on air for local comedy with 7 Days, the Cadbury Crunchie Comedy Gala and the Comedy Divas.
As well as comedy, the channel had a second successful series of New Zealand’s Next Top Model. Ratings increased and the show saw an increase in viewership from the previous series.

The average audience in 2009 was 170,300 people per episode and average audience in 2010 rose to 206,900 people. Ratings in 2009 averaged a 9 and 2010 has risen 21% to a 10.9.

And with the successful launch of The X Factor brand in New Zealand, giving TV3 strong ratings for the Australian version, Director of Programming, Kelly Martin said staff have every reason to be proud of the channel’s achievements in 2010.
